Kirtan, Akhand Path, Langar & Puja Invitation Messages for WhatsApp (Punjabi · Hindi · Gujarati)

By the Ayozan team · · 8 min read

A kirtan, a path, a katha or a chowki at home is announced the same way in most Indian families: one WhatsApp message to relatives, neighbours and the sangat, with the date, the time of bhog or aarti, the address, and a line saying that prasad or langar follows. Below are copy-and-paste invitation messages for religious gatherings at home — Sikh (kirtan, Sukhmani Sahib, Akhand Path, langar), Hindu (Satyanarayan katha, mata ki chowki, kanya pujan, havan, Sawan Shiv puja) and Sindhi (Behrana Sahib) — each with a formal version in the native script, a romanized reading, and a short WhatsApp line. Any sample below becomes a free personalized card + video invitation on Ayozan — each guest gets their own name, in their own language.

Write it once on Ayozan and every guest receives it with their own name rendered in Gurmukhi or Devanagari automatically — as a WhatsApp image, a short video or a link, with a print-ready PDF for the elders who want paper. Designs for these occasions are in the Sikh invitation cards and Hindi invitation cards collections.

Sikh invitations — ਕੀਰਤਨ, ਪਾਠ ਅਤੇ ਲੰਗਰ

Sikh gatherings are addressed to the sangat: the invitation is a humble benti, the credit goes to Waheguru's kirpa, and the meal is always "Guru ka langar". The two phrases that carry this tone are ਆਪ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਸਮੇਤ ਸਨਿਮਰ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ (you are humbly requested, with family) and ਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਲੰਗਰ ਅਤੁੱਟ ਵਰਤੇਗਾ (Guru ka langar will be served without pause).

Akhand Path — arambh and bhog (ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਖੰਡ ਪਾਠ ਸਾਹਿਬ)

An Akhand Path is the unbroken reading of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji over about 48 hours, so the arambh (start) and the bhog (conclusion) fall on different days. Most of the sangat comes for the bhog — give that date and time most prominently, and say that kirtan, ardaas and langar follow.

What to include

  • The occasion — what the kirtan, path or puja is for (new home, anniversary, a sukhna, a child's birthday).
  • The time that matters — bhog time for a path, aarti time for a katha or chowki, start time for a kirtan. For an Akhand Path give both arambh and bhog, with bhog in bold.
  • Full address with a landmark, and a parking note if the lane is narrow.
  • What follows — "ਕੀਰਤਨ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਲੰਗਰ", "आरती के पश्चात प्रसाद", "भंडारा" — so guests know whether to eat before coming.
  • "With family" — ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਸਮੇਤ / सपरिवार. Without it, some guests will come alone.
  • A headcount — langar and bhandara need numbers; an RSVP link under the message collects them quietly.

A note on respectful phrasing

  • Sikh invitations are a benti to the sangat, never a summons — ਸਨਿਮਰ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ, ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਤਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਜੀ. For a path at home, a gentle line asking guests to come with heads covered is welcome.
  • Hindu puja invitations use the honorific plural — आप सादर आमंत्रित हैं, पधारें — and ask guests to accept prasad (प्रसाद ग्रहण करें), not to "have food".
  • Open with the greeting your family actually uses — ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫ਼ਤਿਹ; जय माता दी; हर हर महादेव; आयो लाल झूलेलाल — and keep to a single 🙏. Put a scriptural line on the card only if you are certain of its exact words; if in doubt, leave it out.

How to use these in Ayozan

  • Pick a design from Sikh invitation cards for kirtan, path and langar, or Hindi invitation cards for katha, chowki, kanya pujan and havan, and paste your wording.
  • Not sure how to word it? The invitation wording generator drafts a first version from the occasion, date and venue.
  • Type in English and the card renders Gurmukhi or Devanagari automatically — every guest sees their own name in their own script, in any of 30+ languages.
  • Share from the studio as a WhatsApp image, a short video or a link, and download a print-ready PDF for the elders.
  • Add the RSVP link so the family knows how much langar or prasad to prepare.

Frequently asked questions

How do I word an Akhand Path invitation with the bhog timing?
Name the occasion, say that Sri Akhand Path Sahib has been arranged at your home or gurdwara, then give the arambh date and time and — in bold — the bhog date and time, since most of the sangat comes for the bhog. Add that kirtan, ardaas and Guru ka langar follow, the full address, and close with a humble request to attend with family (ਆਪ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਸਮੇਤ ਸਨਿਮਰ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ).
What is the difference between a kirtan and a path invitation?
A kirtan invitation is for an evening of Gurbani sung by a ragi jatha — usually one sitting, with langar after. A path invitation is for a reading: Sukhmani Sahib takes a few hours on one morning, while an Akhand Path runs about 48 hours, so the invitation carries both arambh and bhog times. Both are addressed to the sangat and end with langar.
What should I write for a kanya pujan invitation?
State the Ashtami or Navami date and the morning time, ask parents to bring their daughters along for the pujan, name the prasad (halwa-puri-chana), give the address, and close with सपरिवार सादर आमंत्रित हैं. Keep it short — it goes to neighbours as much as to relatives.
How much does a kirtan or puja invitation cost on Ayozan?
There's no charge right now — Ayozan's free period covers design, per-guest personalization, and WhatsApp delivery in full. The passes arriving on 1 January 2027 stay simple: no per-card fees, ever.
