Most Sikh wedding cards open with a line of Gurbani above the family names. - ਲਖ ਖੁਸੀਆ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੀਆ ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥ — Lakh khusiaa paatisaahiaa je Satgur nadar karei. Hundreds of thousands of princely pleasures are enjoyed if the True Guru casts His glance of grace. (Guru Arjan, ang 44.)
- ਅਨੰਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ — Anand bhaiaa meri maae Satguru mai paaia. I am in bliss, O my mother, for I have found my True Guru. (Anand Sahib, Guru Amar Das, ang 917 — the opening of the hymn sung at every Anand Karaj.)
- ਹਰਿ ਪਹਿਲੜੀ ਲਾਵ ਪਰਵਿਰਤੀ ਕਰਮ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥ — Har pahilarhee laav parvirtee karam drirhaaia bal Ram jeeo. In the first round, the Lord sets out the duties of married life. (The first of the four Lavan, Guru Ram Das, ang 773 — used on the Anand Karaj programme card.)
- ਪੂਰੀ ਆਸਾ ਜੀ ਮਨਸਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ — Pooree aasa jee mansa mere Ram. My hopes and wishes are fulfilled, O my Lord. (Guru Arjan, ang 577 — a short line that fits a small card.)
- ਜਿਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀਓ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਇਓ ॥ — Jin prem keeo tin hee Prabh paaio. Only those who have loved have found God. (Guru Gobind Singh, Tav-Prasad Savaiye — popular on modern cards.)
